Photographing real moments in Nottingham & Beyond

Welcome! I’m Sally Rose, a friendly, professional, and award-winning Nottingham wedding photographer. After living and working in London for over a decade, I recently decided to relocate back home to Nottingham. However I’m still traveling far and wide to capture weddings & always love an excuse to return to London and see more of the UK.

I’ve had the joy of capturing incredible weddings in all kinds of locations. From tipi festival celebrations in the Nottingham countryside, to Town Hall weddings and even to breathtaking castles in Florence.

My photography style is relaxed, colourful and natural. Focused on capturing real moments as they unfold – no awkward posing or Chandler Bing smiles here!  I love to blend into the background, letting your day flow naturally while photographing all the joy, emotion, and energy that makes it you.

Every wedding is unique, from the tiny details you’ve spent hours planning to the spontaneous, joyful moments you couldn’t have predicted. I’m all about capturing those little details and grand celebrations that tell your story.

Whether your vibe is low-key or full-on party vibes, I’m all about capturing the real moments, good energy and everything that makes your day unapologetically you. Always in a relaxed, colourful style.

Documentary Style Photography

with a gentle nudge

I photograph weddings in a relaxed, natural way, focusing on real moments as they unfold. Taking a step back allows me to capture the genuine emotion, energy, and personality of your day, just as it happens, without it ever feeling forced or overly staged.

From the laughter and happy tears to all the little in-between moments you might miss, I’ll be there with my camera to quietly observe and capture it all. Whether you’re getting married in Nottingham or further afield, my aim is to create a gallery of images that feel honest, timeless, and full of life, so you can look back at your photos and relive your day for years to come.

When it comes to the couple shots, I’ll gently guide you with posing, but the moments I love most are the ones that happen naturally. When you’re just being yourselves and laughing together. I’ll also help organise and guide your family group shots so everything runs smoothly and feels easy.

NOTTINGHAM WEDDING Venues

Nottingham is home to so many stunning wedding venues, each offering its own unique charm and character. Whether you’re planning a rustic countryside celebration, a festival-style gathering, or a chic, modern affair, this city has the perfect venue for every couple. Iconic locations like Hazel Gap Barn, with its breathtaking countryside barn setting, The Carriage Hall, known for its blend of rustic elegance, and the picturesque Inkersall Grange Farm, featuring a fantastic tipi setup, are all incredible venues I’m excited to capture weddings at in the future.

In addition to these, I’ve had the pleasure of working at some of Nottingham’s favorite venues! West Bridgford Registry Office is perfect for those looking for a an intimate setting for their special day. Pippley Walled Garden is a hidden gem that feels like a magical escape with its stunning gardens and secluded spots. Each venue has its own unique atmosphere, making them perfect backdrops for unforgettable weddings.

The beautiful county of Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire is a beautiful county in the East Midlands and one I feel really lucky to now call home. At its heart is Nottingham, a city that manages to feel both historic and creative at the same time. You’ve got landmarks like Nottingham Castle sitting above the city and the stunning Wollaton Hall, which was actually used as the exterior for Wayne Manor in the 2012 Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises! It’s also a popular location with photographers, especially when the deer wander through the park and at golden hour. I remember one of my first ever college projects was photographing here on an old 35mm film camera.

The River Trent runs through the county and adds such a calm, open feel to the area, particularly around West Bridgford, where I’m based. I love taking my dog for walks along the river, especially in the evenings when the light softens and everything feels that bit more relaxed. West Bridgford is also home to Nottingham Forest football stadium and some lovely cafes, shops & restaurants.

Whilst Nottingham is the main city, there are some really lovely towns dotted around the county too. Southwell is lovely and home to Southwell Minster and Newark has a great mix of history and riverside views. There are also so many little villages and gorgeous countryside to explore.

Nottinghamshire is probably best known for Sherwood Forest and the legendary Robin Hood! Whenever I go abroad and mention I’m from Nottingham the first thing someone replies is ‘Robin Hood!’ I’d highly recommend visiting Sherwood Forest, especially with a camera. Along with Nottingham Castle, where there is a very well-photographed statue of Robin Hood.

One of the main things I love about Nottingham is how creative it is and all the independent businesses and local groups supporting each other, which has been so important while growing my own business. My dad has had his own independent shop in Nottingham since before I was born! It’s one of the longest running shops in the area. It’s called Ice Nine and is super unique and well worth a visit if you are in Hockley area or The Lace Market.

You also can’t visit Nottingham without going to Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem. It’s one of the oldest pubs in England & built into the rock beneath the castle. I’ve been lucky enough to explore the old cellar and hear about some of the many ghost stories!

Recently, I was commissioned by David Lloyd to capture a series of classic Nottingham scenes to be printed and framed within their West Bridgford club. It was great being asked to document the city through my own lens and visit all the places that are unique to Nottingham. I photographed places like the Nottingham Forest City Ground, Trent Bridge, Victoria Embankment, Wilford Suspension Bridge, Nottingham Council House and of course Wollaton Hall. I got up early for a lot of them to capture them at sunrise which made it not only look special, but feel special too.

It feels really special to be back in Nottingham. I’ve loved settling into West Bridgford again and exploring both old favourites and new places.
