Anyone that knows me knows I love photographing weddings with natural light and producing colourful and vibrant images with a relaxed feel to them. Outdoor weddings like this beautiful one held at Micklefield Hall means I get to shoot exactly how I like with plenty of gorgeous light! 🙂 Micklefield Hall boasts stunning grounds, incredible views and a gorgeous wedding barn. I was spoilt for choice with all the beautiful locations I could have chosen for photos.
Micklefield Hall is only 25 miles outside London, but you feel like you’re worlds away from the capital. Surrounded by green fields and extensive gardens it really is a little oasis of calm.
Micklefield Hall Outdoor Ceremony
Micklefield offers a really unique outdoor ceremony area, The Folly. Guests sit either side of a beautiful water feature while the couple say their vows under the Folly itself. It’s a stunning place to say “I do” and made for some beautiful wedding ceremony photos.
Hayley and Liam, as husband and wife, were engulfed in confetti as they made their way towards the gardens. I always say to couples if you think you’ve got enough confetti then buy even more! And Hayley and Liam really took that advice to heart!
Micklefield Hall Wedding Portraits
I love taking some time out with a couple in order to get some relaxed portraits. This is a great chance for couples to spend a bit of time ‘alone’ together and have a breather away from the wonderful chaos of a wedding reception. Micklefield is fantastic for portraits, the gardens are beautiful and you don’t have to go too far away from the party to find a bit of space. The perfect mix of feeling secluded but knowing you can quickly rejoin your guests. The rose gardens were especially beautiful and we took some of my favourite couples photos here.
Rustic Country Garden Wedding Details
Hayley and Liam had chosen a country garden theme to their day, complemented perfectly by Micklefield’s rustic barn where they held their wedding breakfast. Each table was adorned with beautifully colourful flowers and an envelope with ‘Do Not Open’ written on it. Inside was a little ‘treat’ for Liam! You’ll find out just what it was as you look through this blog.
The Great Barn is spacious and light with oak beams and garlands hanging from the rafters. It’s perfect for a wedding party and makes for a fantastic dance floor – as Hayley and Liam’s guests proved later on that evening!
Hayley and Liam’s wedding decor was understated and in keeping with their rustic theme. Each guest was given an alcoholic favour, that always goes down well with people! A sweet ‘ladder’ dominated one corner of the barn whilst a gorgeous ‘naked’ cake sat waiting to be cut in another. Cutting it was Hayley and Liam’s task before they took to the dancefloor, swiftly joined by all their guests who were determined to party!
