Bride and groom smiling during wedding ceremony at Islington Town Hall

Islington Town Hall Wedding Photography

Islington Town Hall is such a great wedding venue, I absolutely love photographing here. Not only is the location great for London weddings but the building is incredibly impressive too. From the gorgeous marble staircase to the grand Council Chamber room, every inch of this venue is stunning!

London Wedding

Jess and Andy found me through the Fearless Photographers website, so I knew straight away that they were looking for something a bit different from their photography. As soon as they told me their plans I knew I had to be there! Who can say no to an Elvis impersonator, a drag queen and a nightclub at a wedding! I was privileged to be asked to capture all the fun in my usual low key and documentary style.

The Vine Pub, Islington

I love that they were determined to do things their way. The day started at The Vine pub, just opposite Islington Town Hall. It’s the perfect place for wedding guests to meet before heading over the road to the Town Hall and, as Jess and Andy wanted to see each other before the ceremony, they turned up there too! It was great to see them chatting and laughing away with their guests and made for such a relaxed atmosphere.

Islington Town Hall

Jess and Andy were all about the fun! They wanted their guests to have the best time. Neither of them like being the centre of attention so had invited just a handful of their loved ones to the ceremony itself. I think Jess and Andy now hold the record for the quickest ceremony I’ve ever photographed, they were in and out in just under 8 minutes! The ceremony itself may have been short but it was very sweet.

The Council Chamber Ceremony Room

The Council Chamber room at Islington Town Hall is always lovely to photograph in. There’s so much space and the lighting is gorgeous.

Islington Town Hall Couple Photos

Following the ceremony, whilst their guests gathered outside, Jess, Andy and I snuck away for a few couple portraits. It’s such an iconic building we wanted to make the most of the time we had there.

Then it was time for confetti on the infamous Islington Town Hall steps. If you’ve ever walked past the Town Hall on a weekend you’ll definitely have seen crowds of wedding guests throwing confetti over some smiling newly weds!

London Wedding Bus

Of course a London city centre wedding wouldn’t be complete without a big, red London bus! Jess, Andy and their guests (and me!) hopped on and headed over to Slinger Tavern.

The Singer Tavern Wedding Reception

At the Singer Tavern they were greeted by a crowd of their friends and family, and an Elvis impersonator! He serenaded guests during the drinks reception and went down a storm.

Now, Jess loves true crime, so she named their tables after serial killers! I love her attention to detail, she drew the flower designs on the name cards herself (so talented) and on the back of each card were serial killer facts for their guests to read. It made a great talking point when everyone sat down to eat.

Cocktails & Drag Wedding Reception

After their meal it was time for cocktails. Everyone disappeared downstairs to the Singer Tavern’s fab basement bar to enjoy cocktails and a hilarious drag queen performance. She was super entertaining and got everyone involved, including handcuffing Jess and Andy! Luckily she released them in time for their first dance, phew! Haha!

The First Dance

Whilst everyone was downstairs enjoying cocktails and drag. The upstairs room was turned around into a dance floor. It wasn’t long after Jess and Andy’s first dance until the dance floor was packed. Jess and Andy’s band were incredible and kept everyone dancing.

Jess and Andy really know how to throw a party! This has to be one of the most original weddings I have ever been to and I loved seeing what a great time everyone was having. What a day!

“Thanks so much for capturing our day. We LOVE the photos, so thank you! They are amazing, so many good ones and so many funny ones too! We’re really pleased, you perfectly captured the day!”

I was so touched to get such a fab thank you message from Jess and Andy when I delivered their wedding gallery. They had such an incredible wedding at Islington Town Hall and The Singer Tavern. I couldn’t stop smiling as I was editing their photographs as they brought back so many great memories.
