Villa le Fontanelle Wedding Photographer
I’m so excited to share this Italian destination wedding with you today. I love Italy so when Sofia & Jason asked me to be their official wedding photographer I couldn’t have been happier. Being a wedding photographer really does take me to some amazing destinations 🙂 This gorgeous Italian villa set in the Tuscan hilltops did not disappoint!
Tuscany Wedding Venues
This gorgeous couple chose the absolutely stunning Villa le Fontanelle for their Italian destination wedding. It’s an exclusive use Italian venue which is out of this world. Words just can’t do it justice (I’ve included LOTS of my photos instead)! It’s an absolute feast for the eyes and as soon as I saw it I knew it was going to be the perfect backdrop to their Italian wedding day.
The wedding day began at the villa. I spent the morning photographing the girls while my second shooter Charlotte photographed the groom and his party. I love shooting weddings with a second shooter as it means I am able to provide more images to my couples and capture even more elements of the day and from different angles.

Traditional Italian Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony took place in the Catholic Church of Careggi which is super close to the venue, just 5 minutes down the road. What a place! It was exactly how I imagined it, from the domed exterior to the ornate painted frescoes inside.
It was so lovely to photograph the ceremony. The happy couple giggled their way through it without a trace of nerves and walked out as husband and wife to cheers and applause from their loved ones.

Bride & Groom Wedding Portraits
As the wedding guests were drinking Aperol Spritz and enjoying some Italian ham and canapés. I took the newlyweds on a walk around the beautiful Villa grounds to get some couple photos. There were so many nooks and crannies to explore and we really made the most of the time we had for their wedding portraits. We ended up on the Villa’s rooftop which gave us an incredible backdrop of Florence and the Tuscan landscape.

Outdoor Wedding Breakfast Overlooking Views of Tuscany
Villa Le Fontanelle over looks views of Florence valley. The view was so stunning that I wasn’t surprised to see the wedding breakfast was taking place along the balcony. During the meal the sun began to set and the colours in the sky were unbelievable. I made the most of the incredible light and grabbed Jason and Sofia for a few more wedding photographs.

I adored all the little touches that had gone into their wedding day, from the personalised Limoncello miniatures to the embroidered hanky Sofia had got for her Mum. All these details really help to make a wedding unique and special, so I always make sure to capture these little details when photographing weddings.

Tuscan Wedding Traditions
Following the speeches they served a traditional Tuscan wedding cake for dolce (dessert). The cake is made in front of the guests and is called a ‘mille foglie’, roughly translated as ‘thousand levels’. It’s made up of layers of light puff pastry filled with cream and fruit and is absolutely delicious.

Before the evening party kicked off Sofia had a surprise up her sleeve. Unbeknownst to anyone, except her Mum, she had a second stunning wedding dress to change into. As soon as she was ready it was time for her and Jason to take to the floor for their first dance and get the party started!
