Cockliffe Wedding Photography
Snow, blue skies, the nicest couple and a gorgeous Nottingham country house. What more could a wedding photographer want!
Sammi and Ali got married back in early March and, much to our surprise, it snowed the day before and the morning of their wedding! Luckily the snow had settled by the time I arrived for bridal prep, the sun came out and the day was absolutely magical. It was the most perfect winter wedding.

A snowy wedding at Cockliffe Country House
Cockcliffe Country House is surrounded by stunning Nottinghamshire countryside, but is just a ten minute drive from Nottingham city centre. It’s ideal for couples who are looking for a rustic, countryside wedding with the convenience of the city for accommodation and travel.
I’m a real romantic and I just love how much history the house has. Originally built in the late 1600s, Cockliffe House started life as two cottages with an attached granary. Local landowners, the Seeley family (who owned the neighbouring Sherwood Manor) purchased Cockliffe House and its woodland in the 1900s. The house became a hunting lodge and played host to the likes of King Edward VIII and Winston Churchill. Apparently the Seeleys knew how to throw a good party!
In the 1990s the house became a restaurant, which also held weddings, before it was purchased by Heritage Estates in 2014. Over the last decade Cockliffe House has established itself as one of Nottinghamshire’s most luxurious and in demand wedding venues.
That morning I joined Sammi, who was getting ready with her bridesmaids. Sammi looked absolutely incredible in her Wed2Be dress and I adored her wild flower crown and stunning bouquet. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and there was a lot of laughter and chatter as the countdown to the ceremony began.

Cockliffe Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony room at Cockliffe is a beautiful, airy space filled with lovely natural light. White petals lined the aisle and large “LOVE” letters lit up the back of the room. A rather nervous Ali was waiting for his bride and a huge smile lit up his face when Sammi arrived. They giggled their way through their vows before being announced husband and wife. Outside, their guests greeted them with clouds of brightly coloured confetti which looked fab against the snowy backdrop.

Wedding photography in Nottinghamshire
I love that Sammi and Ali placed all their trust in me. They said they would do whatever it took to get great wedding photos, and Sammi even braved the snow in her open heels. What a trooper! Their faith paid off and we got some amazing couple photos around the grounds.

After some emotional and hilarious speeches it was time to cut the cake – which was topped with a likeness of their beloved dog, Copper. As the sun set we took a few more photos outside, making the most of that golden light, before they hit the dancefloor.

I loved spending the day with Sammi, Ali and their guests. I was made to feel so incredibly welcome and I don’t think any of us stopped smiling all day.
